What’ve Bagels got to do with it?

Years before I got into Commercial Real Estate, I was a television production manager for Public Television’s acclaimed “Dance in America Series” in New York City.  I got to work with the New York City Ballet and the iconic choreographer Balanchine.

We would shoot these big productions at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.  Why? For one reason, it was a “right to work state” saving money on crew and equipment costs as well as the best sports cameramen were there.  Why do you ask again? The sports cameramen wouldn’t cut off the feet – they followed the fast movement and captured the full frame of the dancers beautifully.

I remember one production was “The Rite of Spring”, ballet and orchestral concert work by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky and required a significant amount of props in the background.  One of those props was bagels, but not just any frozen bagels.  They had to be the real deal.  So, using my resourceful skills and figuring out if we had enough budget, I ordered NYC bagels and flew them down first-class to Nashville.  Crazy, you think?  Well, when the producer says make it happen, you just do it!!!

Coming up with solutions, and acting quickly and efficiently is how I roll.
